Tomorrow Triumphant

DAWN OF CORNFIELD AND DOVE
Fruit
is organized
in the fertility
of the earth at war
with itself
It runs over
distances
green
with chlorophyll
and rears up its
beautiful horse
of life.

And one day
one immortal day,
its shuts away
the sun and water
in its heart ripened
with their serenade.

Like this
it conquers
the right
to glisten
with pride
in the breast
of its orchards,
because
it never wanted
to gallop
with the horse
of life
toward the dark
depths of the earth;
toward what signified
the death of its music,
the total
liquidation
of its utter joy!

Like this
Will be
Your simple
and complex
history,
my land,
a vital
gallop
into the future
that will be your people
with their mornings
of cornfields
and birds of peace.

But
always remember,
the dawn
will be yours,
brown one,
if with the hands of your people
you
conquer it!
